About
Klein Joostenberg is a working family farm just outside Stellenbosch, where good food, simple pleasures and farm life go hand in hand. Spend a few hours or the whole day enjoying breakfast or lunch at the bistro, browsing the deli shelves, visiting the butchery, or stretching out on the lawns with a picnic.
A Heritage Day recipe with Ilse van der Merwe
Food and heritage are closely intertwined. The dishes we grow up with, the flavours we remember and the recipes passed around family tables all have a way of telling us where we come from.
From time to time, we invite chefs, cooks and food-loving friends to collaborate with us at Klein Joostenberg, bringing their own ideas, memories and ways of cooking to the ingredients and traditions that are part of life here.
With Heritage Day coming up soon, we invited Stellenbosch-based cook book author, recipe developer and food stylist, Ilse van der Merwe to create a recipe inspired by her own food memories, while drawing on Klein Joostenberg’s butchery roots and the Joostenberg family’s winemaking tradition.
